Will The Zhu Zhu Hamsters Be The Hot Toys For Christmas 2009?

We think so.  Depending on where you live, The Zhu Zhu Hamsters might be hard to find at your local retail stores.

Why are they so popular?

The Zhu Zhu Hamsters used to be called the Go Go pets.  The Go Go Pets are basically the same toys as the Zhu Zhu Pets but are packaged differently.  They were recently made available in a limited release under the new name and they sold like crazy.

For one, these toy Hamsters have a motor and they are very life like.  They are soft and cuddly.  They operate in two modes. One mode is called "nurturing or loving." In this mode, they love being petted and cuddled.  The Zhu Zhu Hamsters respond with a purring sound.  This gives the children an idea of what it is like to caress a real hamster.

The second mode the Zhu Zhu Hamsters have is called the 'adventure' mode. The toy has a built in “artificial intelligence”.  In adventure mode, they cruise on the floor or in their make shift hamster housing making talking noises and interacting with their surroundings.  It’s very cute.

There are currently five Zhu Zhu Hamsters.  Each one has their own personalities and makes different sounds.  There is Mr. Squiggles (Light Brown),  Pipsqueek (Yellow),  Num Nums (Gray), Chunk (White) and Patches who is not as popular as the other four hamsters.
